🌟 Introduction

The Qur’an is the final message from Allah to guide all people until the end of time. It is a book full of light, truth, and wisdom.
More than 1400 years have passed, but the Qur’an is still the same — every word and every letter is unchanged. This is a living miracle from Allah.

Other holy books were changed over time, but Allah promised to protect the Qur’an. From the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, it was kept safe through memorization, writing, and teaching.
Today, we can continue this beautiful journey through online Quran classes and keep the words of Allah in our hearts and homes.

📖 1. Revelation of the Qur’an

The Qur’an was sent by Allah step by step over 23 years.
The first verses came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in the Cave of Hira through the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) who said:

“Read in the name of your Lord who created.” (Surah Al-‘Alaq: 1)

The verses came slowly so that the Muslims could learn and follow them easily.
They memorized and practiced the Qur’an in their daily lives.
The Prophet ﷺ would recite each verse to his companions, who listened carefully and learned every word.

2. Preservation in the Prophet’s ﷺ Time

During the Prophet’s life, the Qur’an was protected in two ways:

🧠 a) Memorization (Hifz)

Many companions of the Prophet ﷺ memorized the entire Qur’an by heart.
This was the main way of keeping the Qur’an safe.
The Arabs were very good at memorizing, and they recited the Qur’an daily in prayers and gatherings.
If anyone made a mistake, others corrected it quickly.
This helped keep the Qur’an perfect and pure.

b) Writing (Kitabah)

The Qur’an was also written down while the Prophet ﷺ was alive.
He had special scribes, like Zaid bin Thabit (RA) and Ubayy ibn Ka‘b (RA), who wrote the verses on:

  • Pieces of leather
  • Palm leaves
  • Flat stones
  • Bones
  • Parchment

When a new verse came, the Prophet ﷺ told the scribes where to place it.
Every year in Ramadan, the Prophet ﷺ read the whole Qur’an with Angel Jibreel, and in his last year, he reviewed it two times.
This made sure that nothing was missing or changed.

📚 3. Collection in Abu Bakr’s Time (RA)

After the Prophet ﷺ passed away, many companions who had memorized the Qur’an were martyred in the Battle of Yamama.
Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA) told Caliph Abu Bakr (RA) that the Qur’an should be collected into one book.
At first, Abu Bakr (RA) was unsure, but later he agreed that it was a very good idea.

Zaid bin Thabit (RA) was chosen to lead this important task.
He gathered all the written pieces of the Qur’an and checked every verse carefully with the help of other companions.
He made sure everything was correct by:

  • Comparing written verses
  • Checking with memorizers
  • Confirming from witnesses

Finally, the Qur’an was collected into one book called the Mushaf of Abu Bakr (RA).
After Abu Bakr’s death, this copy stayed with Umar (RA) and later with his daughter Hafsa (RA).

📜 4. Collection in Uthman’s Time (RA)

When Islam spread to other countries, people spoke in different dialects and read the Qur’an differently.
This caused confusion among new Muslims.
Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman (RA) told Caliph Uthman (RA) to make one standard copy of the Qur’an for everyone.

Uthman (RA) borrowed Hafsa’s Mushaf and asked a team led by Zaid bin Thabit (RA) to make several perfect copies in the Qurayshi dialect, which was the language of the Prophet ﷺ.
These copies were sent to different Muslim lands, and all other versions were destroyed to avoid mistakes.
Because of this, the Qur’an became one — the same for all Muslims around the world.

🌍 The Miracle of Protection

Since the Qur’an was revealed, not a single word has been changed.
Millions of people have memorized it, and millions more are learning it today.
This is exactly as Allah promised in the Qur’an:

“Indeed, We have sent down the Reminder (the Qur’an), and indeed, We will guard it.”
(Surah Al-Hijr: 9)

The Qur’an is safe forever — a living miracle of Allah’s protection.
